Grammar in bites

Endings carry meaning, not word order. Learn a small kit — nominative, accusative, present verbs — then read a line of verse. Charts can wait.

A language of endings

Word order is a courtesy

English leans on word order: the dog bites the man is not the man bites the dog. Sanskrit leans on endings. रामः वनं गच्छति and वनं रामः गच्छति can say the same thing because रामः is marked as the subject and वनं as the object.

SOV by habit

The usual order is subject–object–verb. The verb likes to finish the sentence. Start your own sentences that way and they will sound native sooner.
